Mind or Matter?
Saturday 16th April, 10.30am to 12.45pm
Led by Viryadeva, open to all.
‘We live under the illusion that we all share the exact same world because our language has evolved to pick out precisely the few aspects of our experiences that are common and shared, while ignoring those that are completely personal and idiosyncratic.’
In this series of three workshops, Viraydeva will unpack a fundamental Buddhist idea: the world as we know it is determined not by objective facts, but by the mind. Drawing on his recent conversation with philosopher Bernardo Kastrup (click the video above to watch!) Viryadeva will guide us beyond the maze of our in-built assumptions about reality, into the heart of Buddhist wisdom.
Bernardo Kastrup’s work has been leading the modern renaissance of metaphysical idealism, the notion that reality is essentially mental. As a scientist, Bernardo has worked for the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and the Philips Research Laboratories. His books include Dreamed up Reality and Why Materialism is Baloney.
