Summer Urban Retreat

Time & Location

07 Aug, 10:30 BST – 08 Aug, 16:30 BST
Croydon Buddhist Centre, 98 High St, Croydon CR0 1ND, UK

Coming out of lockdown our retreat centres are fully booked. We've organised a non-residential retreat at the Croydon Buddhist Centre, so more of us can get a taste of what a retreat can be like.

We'll have the chance to meditate, eat together, study and discuss some Buddhist teachings, just hang out in the lovely garden and spaces of the Centre, and take our practice deeper.

We're going to explore the theme of "uselessness". To quote Sangharakshita, "The real values are aesthetic, not utilitarian". Buddhist wisdom has a dimension of beauty and appreciation. But how do we touch into this, given our busy lives? "Being no-one, going nowhere" - is this really possible? On this retreat, we’ll explore ways to really live like this.

We'll practice together together from 10:30am to 4:30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Suggested donation £50, but feel free to give more or less - or nothing at all if you are struggling financially.
