Not About Being Good Course on Buddhism and Ethics

Thursdays, 7th September to 5th October, 1pm to 2.30pm

With Mokshadarshini, Punyamati and Zoe

Suggested Donation: £50 / £35

All welcome - in-person at the Buddhist Centre

Our next course is aimed at complete newcomers and also those who’ve been coming along a while and want to keep exploring.

Maybe “ethics” can sound dull and worthy, or like it entails being moralistic and judgemental?

This course aims to show ethics in a different light! It’s not about “being good”; it’s about understanding the deeper motives in our hearts and minds, and learning to speak and act from the very best in ourselves. This is liberating for ourselves and others.

The course will involve meditation, talks and discussion, and the chance to try things out in your day to day life. Do join us if you want to think afresh about your life, and get a sense of what Buddhist practice actually means in real life.

Level 1. Suitable for newcomers or those looking for a refresher. A thorough introduction to the Buddhist perspective on ethics, and how to apply it to live a freer, happier, more authentic life. Includes meditation teaching, helping you build up a meditation practice from scratch. Note: By signing up to Level 1, you commit to at least 30 minutes’ home practice each day during the course.

Level 2. Suitable for those who have been practising with us for at least six months. Deepen your understanding of the Buddhist approach to ethics, learning to more fully liberate the mind from its tendency towards self-clinging - all while learning to be more fully yourself! Note: By signing up to Level 2, you commit to 45 minutes of home practice each day during the course.

Dana Economy. All our events are by donation and you can come for free if you need to. But please give what you can to support our work. There is a suggested donation of £50/£35 for this course, but feel free to give less, or more if you can afford it.
