All Welcome
What kind of world do you want to wake up in tomorrow?
“If our relation to the world is essentially creative, it follows that the world, our world if you like, is our creation. That we create the world. There's no question … of whether or not we should create a world. We've no choice. It's only a question of what kind of world we create.” – Sangharakshita
A single insight lies at the heart of Buddhism: we create our own world through our thoughts and actions. This means we have a choice. We can either make a world of misery, hatred and fear, or a world of love, beauty and freedom.
With the old systems and ideologies crumbling everywhere around us, there has perhaps never been such an urgent need to imagine – and build – a new world.
Series Overview
In this three-week series we will learn from Buddhists past and present in their attempts to build new and better worlds.
The series will uncover that Buddhist practice applies to the whole world we live in, not only to the mind. Over the millenia, Buddhists have tried to transform the world by creating new forms of community, systems of government and economies to reflect Buddhist values. If we choose to, we can follow their lead. We’ll discover the pitfalls and promise of world-building, and we’ll explore how – together – we might bring a new world into being.
Join this series if you are new to Buddhism, or you’ve been practising for a while and want to be more engaged with the world around you (there’s really no limit!). Whatever life you lead and however you see the world, this series will give you food for thought and new inspiration.
Book your place to ensure you receive guided meditation recordings and resources that will help you make the most of the course.
