Sometimes we feel connection with the life around us; our hearts can brim with love and care. Buddhism says this "heart's release" is how life should be; we have huge potential for joy and compassion. But at other times life is more difficult and challenging. In these situations our hearts can shut down; we close-off from the world around us.

On this weekend urban retreat we will explore "eight verses for training the mind". This much-loved Tibetan text shows us how to keep the heart open, even when things are troubling and difficult. In fact, those are the very situations in which we learn what compassion really is. The verses are inspiring, practical, life-changing, and we'll explore them through meditation, discussion, and guided reflection.

Suitable for complete newcomers and more experienced people who want an introduction and training in this classic Buddhist teaching. We'll start on the Friday night, with sessions through Saturday, until 3pm Sunday. All meals will be provided at the Buddhist Centre, you just go home to sleep at night!
