Danakumara
Men's Mitra Convenor
Danakumara works full-time for the Triratna Buddhist community as a teacher, mentor and administrator. He is Secretary to the Chair of Brighton Buddhist Centre, Acting Mitra Convenor in Croydon, and looking at the culture of 'Team Based Right Livelihood' as part of a central team working for the European Chairs Assembly.
Danakumara trained in several different modalities including Scaravelli-inspired yoga, neo-Tantra, contemporary shamanism, and sound therapy, before turning more fully towards his training with the Triratna Buddhist Order.
Before working for Triratna he spent over 20 years in Financial Services across a range of different roles, and holds a Master of Business Administration. He also has many years' experience volunteering in the community - as Chair of Governors of a school, as Youth Advisor with the YMCA, and on a community mentoring program with students from the Brighton universities with a diverse range of needs.
He was ordained in 2025 by Vajragupta and given the name Danakumara, which means “Prince of Giving.”
He loves sharing the Buddhist path with others and creating contexts of loving kindness to support growth and transformation.
