Celebrating Buddhist festivals is important. They bring the Buddha directly into our lives, immersing us in the central stories and myths of our tradition. They also gather us together as a sangha, creating the collective inspiration that only comes from practicing in large numbers.
With that in mind, we warmly invite you to join us for Parinirvana Day Festival, marking the Buddha’s physical death. We’ll be hosting a full-day festival with three main elements.
Morning – Reflection on impermanence
We’ll explore the truth of impermanence, contemplating how everything in our lives is continually borrowed and returned. What does this mean for the way we actually live?
Afternoon – Puja, mitra ceremony, and collective practice
The afternoon will include a puja to the Buddha, a mitra ceremony, and a special metta bhāvanā dedicated to those who have died. You’re welcome to bring photos of loved ones who have passed in the last…
