Buddhism often can sometimes sound a bit joyless... as if our job is simply to learn to face suffering with a stiff upper lip.
But the Buddha’s answer to the problem of suffering was surprising! He taught that if we bring awareness to pleasurable, joyful experiences, this can ripple out into and nourish our whole life, lifting us out of stuckness and anxiety.
It turns out that pursuing pleasure doesn’t have to be a passive, consumerist experience. Rather it can be a meaningful way to develop and refine our awareness of enjoyable states such as joy, contentment and beauty.
Join us for a lively discussion and an opportunity to explore how to find deep sources of pleasure in your life. The discussions will be followed by a delicious vegan dinner and a bonfire!
Dana Economy. All our classes offering Buddhist teaching are by donation, because we believe that the Buddha's teachings should be freely given. We recommend a donation of £10/£8, but we welcome you however much you can afford to give.
